چکیده

Tissue homeostasis requires the presence of multipotent adult stem cells that are capable of efficient self-renewal and differentiation; some of these have been shown to exist in a dormant, or quiescent, cell cycle state. Such quiescence has been proposed as a fundamental property of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in the adult bone marrow, acting to protect HSCs from functional exhaustion and cellular insults to enable lifelong hematopoietic cell production. Recent studies have demonstrated that HSC quiescence is regulated by a complex network of cell-intrinsic and -extrinsic factors. In addition, detailed single-cell analyses and novel imaging techniques have identified functional heterogeneity within quiescent HSC populations and have begun to delineate the topological organization of quiescent HSCs. Here, we review the current methods available to measure quiescence in HSCs and discuss the roles of HSC quiescence and the variousmechanisms by which HSC quiescence is maintained.

Iso Observations of Iras 16594?4656: a New Proto-planetary Nebula with a Strong 21 Micron Dust Feature

Based on ISO SWS+LWS observations, IRAS 16594?4656 is identiied as a new member of the rare class of C-rich proto-planetary nebulae with the 21 m dust feature in emission. m are detected, together with unusually strong features at 12.6 and 13.4 m, very rarely observed, attributed to PAHs species with a high degree of hydrogenation. The shapes and relative intensities of the various features fou...

Molecules in bipolar proto - planetary nebulae ⋆

Two bipolar proto-planetary nebulae, IRAS16594-4656 and IRAS17150-3224, have been detected in various molecular lines, namely CO, 13CO, HCN and CN, and remain undetected in several other species. CO(J=2-1) and CO(J=3-2) line profiles are compared to new spectra of similar PPN candidates, previously undetected in CO(J=2-1): CPD-53◦5736, IRAS17106-3046, IRAS17245-3951 and IRAS17441-2411. CO(J=2-1...

Identification of dysregulated miRNAs and their regulatory signature in glioma patients using the partial least squares method

Using microarray data, the present study identified differentially expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) and evaluated their regulatory characteristics in high-grade glioma patients, with the aim to further the understanding into the underlying etiology of the condition. Previously, studies have generally implemented regression or variance analysis, which ignores various background biological factors. H...

Elevated correlations in neuronal ensembles of mouse auditory cortex following parturition.

The auditory cortex is malleable by experience. Previous studies of auditory plasticity have described experience-dependent changes in response profiles of single neurons or changes in global tonotopic organization. However, experience-dependent changes in the dynamics of local neural populations have remained unexplored. In this study, we examined the influence of a dramatic yet natural experi...
